Overview

This two days package trip offers a glimpse into the agrarian life of the vibrant southern Delta region by bending its way through the branches of the Mekong Delta in Sa Dec area. You will have a chance to enjoy local cuisine at an ancient traditional house and visit Chinese temples, which were built and preserved for centuries, by the riverbed. From our private Sampan, you will be able to sight the daily rituals of river life and participate in the bustling commercial activities.

1 Day 1: Cai Be - Sa Dec - Can Tho

Begin cruising from Phu An Jetty at 10:00 am. From the sampan, you can observe life as it plays out on shore - people doing their daily activities among the picturesque landscapes - while your attentive crew serves tea and seasonal fruit. Before arriving at Sa Dec, stop at various points along the river for a look into some of the cottage industries of the region including a pottery factory where everything is made by hand, pass by monkey bridges and tiny villages to visit a Cao Dai temple.

Arrive in Sa Dec and stroll to the outdoor market. Visit one of the highlights of the charming town, the ancient house of Huynh Thuy Le, a real-life character in the celebrated novel and film “The Lover” by Marguerite Duras.

Lunch is served on board while cruising towards Can Tho along a narrow canal teeming with life. Explore the countryside surroundings by local rowboat. Your last stopover before sunset is at an ancient house (a “Nha Co” in Vietnamese), dating back to the 19th century. The owner will welcome you and a candlelit dinner is served in this authentic countryside setting.

After dinner return on board while the Song Xanh continues its cruise towards the Hau River. Overnight on board.

1 Day 2: Can Tho

Day 1 Day 1: Saigon - Cai Be - Sa Dec

At 08:00, we will be met at the lobby of our hotel in Saigon. We transfer to Cai Be (transportation is NOT INCLUDED in the cabin price).

Your cruise starts from Phu An Jetty at 10h00am. Start with a bicycle ride around this remote area, ending up at Le Longanier Restaurant. Lunch is served in this exquisite colonial-style villa set in a lush tropical garden by the river.

After lunch, start your leisurely cruise on the busy waterways, with stops along the way for glimpses of local cottage industries that provide a living for the river people.

Before arriving at Sa Dec, stop to visit a traditional pottery factory where everything is made by hand.

Dinner is served on board. Enjoy your first night on board Song Xanh on the Mekong River.

- From 15 to 29 days before departure: 30% of total rates.
- From 7 to 14 days before departure: 50% of total rates
- From 3 to 6 days before departure: 75% of total rates
- Under 3 days before departure: 100% of total rates
